Vitesco Technologies’ corporate design and this Brand Portal will be developed bit by bit over the coming months, and many elements will be added. The new basic elements for Vitesco Technologies will be used in the transition phase, such as letterheads, business cards, e-mail signatures, PowerPoint files and so on. We recommend switching to Vitesco Technologies as soon as possible and to initiate this on the basis of your requirements.

Generally speaking, we envisage a one or two year transition phase during which the global organisation will have time to introduce the new branding and design fully. During this time we will maintain a close relationship with the Continental brand.

THE VITESCO TECHNOLOGIES BRAND SYMBOL

The brand symbol is a strong element in emphasising the brand in communicative media, and it can be combined with typography and photography in many different ways.

The “V” is always placed against white or a pale, colourless background. The only exception is the “V” in montages.

OUR TYPOGRAPHY

OUR DEFINING FONT

Our character set is based on the Helvetica font. Helvetica is one of the world’s most recognised and successful fonts, which makes it perfect for international correspondence. Credible, human and modern, it is able to convey content clearly and distinctly without becoming too prominent itself. This font is now automatically installed on all Vitesco Technologies staff computers and can be used in any Office app, e-mail or other application.

INSPIRED BY OUR LOGO

The form of our icons is derived from our logo lettering. Icons are generally reproduced in VT Brand Red. VT Brand Grey and its graduations can also be used as icon colours, such as if you need to emphasise hierarchies.

All of the icons consist of one or more unclosed lines. The corners of the icons and the ends of the lines are always rounded.
The same applies to things like simple arrows and lines.

OUR VISUAL WORLD

A MODERN LOOK

Our new image naturally includes a new visual language based on our overall appearance, and harmonising perfectly with it. That’s why our images tend to be somewhat clearer and more highly contrasting, but without appearing clinical or artificial. They should, ideally, always harmonise naturally with all our primary brand colours. VT Brand Yellow especially should never appear out of place on or next to our visuals.

When it comes to the subjects of our visuals, they always lie somewhere between the four poles of technology, people, environment and sustainability – depending on context; sometimes they’re combined, but often they’re alone.

People should always look friendly, accessible and competent; technology should always be high-quality, complex and precise; the environment should be green and inviting; and sustainability should engender trust and be easy to understand.

Principles

BASIC PRINCIPLES OF
BRANDING

There are four branding principles that best represent the brand, depending on medium. The borders are not cut and dry and you can cross over between the principles.

Principle 1 | Brand

Principle 1 applies when we as a company are presenting ourselves in a non-advertising context. If so, then the brand is used in its pure form. Examples: signage, banners, stationery. If this leads to overuse of yellow, you can revert to Principle 2.

Principle 2 | Message

Principle 2 applies when it is about image and communication activities, such as advertisements, trade fair image, interior design, PowerPoint presentations and so on. The brand symbol should be used prominently in such cases.

Principle 3 | Background

Principle 3 applies when designing using full-area images. If the background is, unusually, dark, then the logo can be placed in negative form against the image. The brand symbol can be integrated into the images in this case.
